In This Issue: Thirteen More Solutions Earn SOA Designation
Six of the new SOA products are in-tank solutions, while five of them are pre-spray products and two of them qualified as spot removers. The total number of certified products has now reached 198. Prochem, Professional Carpet Systems and Remove- IT Products each had three new solutions certified in the program, while Performance Chemical had two. Brite-N-Kleen and Wonder Marketing Inc. each had one. Prochem, based out of Chandler, AZ, had its Axiom Clean Prespray, Axiom Clean Detergent (in-tank) and Axiom Clean Free Rinse (in-tank) products each certified. Professional Carpet Systems, headquartered in Raleigh, NC, had its Emerald Clean Prespray, Emerald Clean Extraction Free (in-tank) and Emerald Clean Free Rinse (in-tank) certified. Remove- IT Products, based in Houston, TX, added its GCPS - Green Carpet Pre-Spray, GCER - Green Carpet Extraction Rinse (in-tank) and GSR - General Spot Remover to the list. Performance Chemical, a Lakeworth, FL-based company, had two its products certified: Liquidator (pre-spray) and Eliminator 2 (in-tank). Brite-N-Kleen, out of Omaha, NE, had its Ultra Break (pre-spray) and Wonder Marketing, Inc., a Los Angeles, CA-based company, had its Carpet CPR Spot & Stain Remover earn certification. Each product passed a series of stringent tests performed by an independent laboratory in order to make the list of cleaning solutions. The tests for spot removers, pre-sprays and in-tank solutions include protocols for efficacy (removing stains), resoiling (whether the product attracts soil at an accelerated rate), pH (excessively acid or alkaline products can affect dyes and fibers), optical brighteners (can adversely affect color, appearance and performance) and colorfastness to light (residues on pile yarn can accelerate color change). Nilfisk-Advance is headquartered in Plymouth, MN and the MX521 H is listed as a portable machine earning certification at the gold level, assuring customers that it removes stains and soil from carpet without damaging the carpet pile or causing resoiling problems. The CRI Seal of Approval program tests the effectiveness of carpet cleaning equipment and certifies deep cleaning extractors that effectively remove soil without damage to the carpet. Not all extractors are good enough to earn this distinction; the blue and green seal helps customers recognize they are buying quality products. An independent laboratory administers the CRI Seal of Approval testing for extractors. To quality for the Seal, extractors must meet stringent standards in all three-test categories:
In addition, soil removal efficiency is rated on three levels. Extractors that exceed average soil removal receive a Bronze Seal rating. Those achieving higher soil removal receive a Silver rating and those receiving the highest level of measurable soil removal are awarded a Gold level Seal of Approval. A total of 77 extractors have earned SOA certification. Contact Carroll Turner at 706.428-2106. The system incorporates Rug Doctor's Oxy-Steam solution. Rug Doctor is headquartered in Fenton, MO. The deep cleaning system is the combination of that machine and a particular cleaning solution, following a set procedure. The cleaning solution is tested under the protocol for the solutions testing and then a set procedure is designated and followed. The product is then tested, like the extractors, for soil removal, water retention and texture retention. The Rug Doctor system earned gold level certification. There are now a total of 37 systems earning certification in the category. Contact Carroll Turner at 706.428-2106.
